  16. <p>     Climate and clothing: Light- and medium-weight clothing is
  17. worn most of the year. Sweaters and light raincoats are needed
  18. during the rainy seasons.
  19. </p>
  20. <p>     Customs: US citizens entering Kenya need a passport and visa.
  21. </p>
  22. <p>     Health: No special precautions are required in Nairobi, and
  23. adequate hospital and outpatient treatment is available in the
  24. city. Outside the capital, avoid tapwater and unwashed fruits
  25. and vegetables. If possible, take antimalarial tablets. Yellow
  26. fever, polio, typhoid, and hepatitis immunizations are
  27. recommended for travelers to remote areas.

  29. <p>     Transportation: Many international airlines serve Nairobi.
  30. Most major towns are linked by Kenya Airways flights, good
  31. passenger train services, and intercity bus services. Places of
  32. special tourist interest are served by local light-aircraft
  33. companies. Taxis are abundant in Nairobi. Direct travel between
  34. Kenya and Tanzania may be impossible--check ahead.
  35. Nonessential travel by Americans into Uganda is discouraged.

  37. <p>     Kenya is seven time zones ahead of eastern standard time and
  38. does not observe daylight-saving time.

  40. <p>     Tourist attractions: Masai Mara game reserve, Amboseli
  41. National Park, Tsavo National Park, Aberdare National Park,
  42. Lake Nakuru (flamingo sanctuary), Mombasa (beach and ocean
  43. sports), Nairobi National Park, National Museum of Kenya.

  45. <p>     National holidays: The US Embassy is closed on the following
  46. Kenyan national holidays; shops and businesses are also closed.
